Tis the season to bring out your ‘ho, ho, ho’ (yes, we mean jolly) mood and celebrate Christmas with friends and family. While many love stepping out to enjoy the festive vibes, some prefer a cozy evening at home with a favourite movie, their loved ones, and, of course, a delicious cup of hot chocolate. Let’s be honest, nothing feels as comforting as sipping on creamy, warm chocolate. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

To help you enjoy this without spending too much, digital food creator Kevin has shared three hot chocolate recipes based on the levels of the consistency. He shared these recipes in a now-viral Instagram video that has caught the attention of many on social media.

Let’s start with Level 1, the basic hot chocolate that is simple and comforting. All you need is a cup of milk heated on the stove, sugar dissolved into it and cocoa powder sifted in. Whisk everything together, let it come to boil and finish with a pinch of salt. Result? A smooth and soothing cocoa. “Simple, basic, super nostalgic. Absolutely nothing wrong with it," Kevin says and we couldn’t agree more.

Moving on to Level 2, Kevin takes it up a notch with a French-style hot chocolate. He starts by finely shredding a bar of dark chocolate and adding it to a pot with some sugar, a pinch of salt and a splash of cream. Whisk it gently until the mixture turns into a rich, thick paste. Then, gradually add milk while stirring to create a thick drink. Pour it into your favourite big cup and finish with a dollop of cream. This recipe feels fancy and is perfect for when you want to treat yourself.

Finally, Level 3 is all about adding warm spices and extra richness. Kevin begins by combining shredded chocolate with brown sugar, a cinnamon stick and a couple of cardamom pods. He pours oat milk over the mix (you can use your favourite milk) and lets it steep on low heat for about ten minutes to allow all the flavours to infuse. Afterwards, he gives it a good stir, adds a little more milk to adjust the consistency and creates a thick creamy hot chocolate.

The video became a viral sensation, racking up over 36 million views so far. Just like Kevin, we are also curious to know – which level of hot chocolate would you choose?
