'Indians Are Smelly': Delhi Man Shocked By Australian Tourists' Comment
The Australian couple had asked the Redditor for directions to Terminal 3 at IGI Airport.

A Delhi man recently shared an unsettling experience where he received a “racist compliment" from an Australian couple. In a Reddit post, the man explained that while he was in Connaught Place, he bumped into an Australian couple who were looking for directions to Terminal 3 at IGI Airport. They approached him for help and he guided them to the metro station.
“I was in Connaught Place a few days ago when I bumped into an Australian couple trying to find their way to Terminal 3 of IGI Airport. They asked me for directions, so I guided them to the metro that goes to New Delhi (it was the next station from Rajiv Chowk) and told them to take the Airport Express Metro, in the Orange Line from there," he wrote.

While waiting for the metro, the man from the couple told the Redditor that he smelled good “unlike every other Indian they had met" which made him uneasy.
“He went on to say that the internet was right about Indians being smelly, and the woman nodded in agreement," the user continued.
The Redditor was taken aback and wasn’t sure how to react. He wrote, “I was taken aback and couldn’t decide whether to thank him or defend my country. In the end, I did neither." Instead, he just told them to take the Orange Line from New Delhi Metro Station and walked away.
“It was a really weird interaction—while I was complimented, my fellow countrymen were subjected to a racist remark," he concluded.

The post gained significant attention online and drew varied reactions from social media users.
One user commented, “I don’t think it was a compliment at all."
Another shared, “True or not it’s kind of rude to be like “wow usually your kind smells bad “. I mean if you were visiting a country and the people had a distinct body odour, would you comment on it?"
“We despise fellow beings for the same reasons while in office/metro but when a different origin person says the same, our patriotism hits a different league," a person shared.
“Just answer that half of it is due to climate and the other half due to hard manual labour in the open. Food is also a cause," someone suggested.
Meanwhile, many others felt that the original poster should have called the couple out for their insensitive remark.
