'Lack Of Civic Sense?' Internet Questions Passenger’s Foot-on-Tray Photo In Train
In the picture, the woman is seen lying across the train seats, with one foot on the seat and the other on the tray table, which many consider disrespectful.

A train passenger recently shared a troubling experience on social media when a woman rested her bare foot on the tray table during a journey. In the picture, the woman is seen lying across the seats, with one foot on the seat and the other on the tray, which many consider disrespectful. The post quickly spread online and garnered mixed reactions. While some users argued that many, especially Indians don’t follow basic manners in public, others defending the woman claimed that long train journeys with cramped seating can make people uncomfortable. Many also feel it’s our habit to complain about everything without fully understanding the situation.
From the picture, it’s unclear if the woman had booked the whole row or was saving the seats for her family or friends. She had also placed all three of her bags on the tray table and used the empty seats to stretch out her legs to sit comfortably.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “This is exactly why Indians are looked down upon by every other country, Indians have very poor manners and hygiene in public."
Another shared, “As someone who has travelled over 80 countries, I know very few other countries where people show such mass scale disdain for basic manners, littering, being noisy, nose picking, burping, farting in public and more."
“I saw a white lady do the same in the flight from Philadelphia to Dallas last week except for a bag on the console," a comment read.
An individual asked, “When there is an empty seat and when they have swollen legs they stretch a bit. Why do you feel such an inferiority complex about being Indian?"
Another mentioned, “I don’t understand, if there are empty seats what’s wrong in sitting comfortably, it’s so hard to sit in a crunched seat with no leg space even for a 2-hour journey. It’s Indianess to crib on every damn thing without thinking through."
One more added, “It’s a discipline issue. A lot of people have suddenly gained a lot of wealth but have not learned etiquette. I’m afraid the IT industry has played a role in doing so. The inflated salaries to mediocre techies are a scam in and of itself."
Since the video was shared on X, it has garnered over nine lakh views.
