The Uttar Pradesh Police have taken action against a restaurant’s staff after a woman in Noida received chicken biryani instead of the vegetarian option she had ordered during the Navratri festival.
This comes after a woman shared a video on social media alleging that Swiggy, an online food delivery app, mistakenly delivered a non-vegetarian biryani instead of the vegetarian option she had ordered. The incident, which reportedly occurred on April 4, has gone viral on social media.

In her video, the woman identified as Chhaya Sharma accused the restaurant of deliberately sending her chicken biryani during the Navratri festival, a time when many Hindus observe vegetarian diets. She claimed to be a ‘pure vegetarian’ and said that she consumed “two to three spoonfuls" of the dish before realising it contained meat.
The woman claimed that she ordered veg biryani from “Lakhnavi Kabab Paratha" but received chicken biryani. When she tried to contact the restaurant to report the error, she found it had closed, and her calls went unanswered.
The video has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with users expressing concerns over food safety and religious sensitivities, particularly during festive seasons. While some suggested filing a complaint against the outlet and Swiggy, others blamed the woman for ordering food from a non-veg restaurant and eating from outside during Navaratri.
