Prince William Might Be Getting A New Honour And It’s Not What You Think
Grosvenor married Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral on June 7, 2024, in a grand wedding that saw William serving as an usher. Their baby is expected to arrive in the summer.

Prince William’s schedule has been packed lately, from public engagements across the UK to an upcoming visit to Estonia. But away from his official duties and family life, the Prince of Wales shares a tight-knit bond with a group of lifelong friends. Just recently, on March 12, he was seen celebrating Aston Villa’s victory alongside Thomas van Straubenzee, who happens to be Princess Charlotte’s godfather, and their mutual friend, Edward van Cutsem. But it wasn’t their night out that caught the media’s attention. Instead, the buzz surrounded another close friend of the prince, one who had some particularly joyful news to share.
And as a result, William might soon take on an exciting new role – godfather.

That same day, a spokesperson for Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, confirmed the big news. “The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are very pleased to share that the Duchess is expecting a baby in the summer. The couple are delighted with the news and are very much looking forward to starting a family together," informed Marie Claire.
Grosvenor has been part of William and Harry’s inner circle for years. In fact, he is already a godfather to both Prince George and Prince Archie, making it highly likely that William will be on the shortlist when it comes to godparents for the newest addition to the Westminster family.
And the royal connections don’t stop there. The Duke himself has a rather special godparent – none other than The King. Meanwhile, his mother, Natalia Grosvenor, is one of Prince William’s own godmothers, further strengthening the bond between their families.
Grosvenor married Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral on June 7, 2024, in a grand wedding that saw William serving as an usher. Prince Harry, however, was absent. At the time, sources revealed that the two friends had reached “an understanding" about the situation. Given the complicated nature of Harry’s security concerns in the UK, along with the heightened attention that his presence might have drawn, it was agreed that his attendance would have been difficult.

As for baby Westminster, he or she will be born into a life of extraordinary privilege. Before settling down, Grosvenor was famously dubbed Britain’s most eligible bachelor. And it’s no wonder – his immense wealth and aristocratic standing put him in a league of his own. In fact, according to the Sunday Times 2024 Rich List, the Duke of Westminster, at just 33 years old, holds a jaw-dropping fortune of $13 billion. That makes him wealthier than any member of the Royal Family.
So, will Prince William be asked to be a godfather again? Given the deep ties between these families, it wouldn’t be surprising. Either way, the royal circle is about to welcome a brand-new member and that’s news worth celebrating.
