NBC’s Kristen Welker asked Trump about one way to bypass this restriction could be through Vice President JD Vance running and later stepping aside. Trump responded, “Well, that’s one. But there are others too. There are others". “Can you tell me another?" she asked. “No," Trump replied.
Trump has previously also joked about serving more than two terms at Republican events.
Trump, who would be 82 at the end of his second term, was asked whether he would want to keep serving in “the toughest job in the country" at that point. “Well, I like working," the president said.
The US President also claimed to have the highest poll numbers of any Republican in a century. “We’re in the high 70s in many polls, in the real polls, and you see that. And, you know, we’re very popular. A lot of people would like me to do that," he said.
However, according to NBC, a Gallup poll on candidate popularity puts Trump’s approval rating at just 47 per cent.
