Shehbaz Sharif Uses VPN To Congratulate Trump Due To X Ban In Pakistan, Users Mock Irony
Shehbaz Sharif was quick to congratulate Trump on his victory, but users flagged that he used VPN to use X, banned in Pakistan.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif became a subject of mockery after a community note on his congratulatory post for US President-elect Donald Trump on X, banned in his country, highlighted that he used a VPN to use the platform.
“Congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his historic victory for a second term! I look forward to working closely with the incoming Administration to further strengthen and broaden the Pakistan-U.S. partnership," Sharif posted on X, formerly Twitter, on November 6.

The community note flagged that he was using a VPN which was unlawful in the country.
“PM Shehbaz Sharif has banned X (formerly Twitter), in Pakistan. He is using a VPN to access X, which is unlawful according to Pakistani law," the note read.
Why did Shehbaz Sharif use VPN?
Sharif was forced to use VPN as his own government had banned X earlier this year in Pakistan citing national security reasons. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar had claimed that Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants were using the platform to spread “anti-national activities".
The Pakistani Prime Minister came under severe trolling as he posted on X to congratulate Trump without uplifting the ban on the platform. His move also drew criticism from the Pakistani nationals.
How did the users react?
“Most corrupt and dictator puppet in history of Pakistan is congratulating Trump," a user wrote.
“Pakistani PM taken to cleaners by his audience," another wrote sharing the community note below his X post.
