A man residing in Fujian province, China, was involved in an extramarital affair. Although his wife was unwilling to divorce him, the man’s girlfriend proposed a deal. She offered the wife Rs 2.37 crore to agree to a divorce.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, Han married Yang in 2013, and they had two daughters. During their marriage, Han had an affair with his office colleague, Shi, and they had a son, who is now two years old. Shi now wishes to formalise her relationship with Han. Consequently, Shi asked Han’s wife, Yang, to divorce her husband in exchange for Rs 2.37 crore.

    Under this agreement, she also transferred Rs 1,39,93,569 to Yang’s account. However, when Yang did not divorce her husband even after a year, Shi asked for her money back.

    When his wife refused to divorce despite receiving a payment, Shi, who had financed the arrangement to secure the divorce, pursued legal action. However, the judge deemed his actions as detrimental to a legally recognised marriage.

      Conversely, the judge noted that Han had spent approximately Rs 7 crore on an extramarital relationship during the marriage. This sum, considered joint property of the couple, led the judge to declare the wife’s entitlement to claim her share.
