Mumbai police have rejected stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra’s request for additional time to appear before the authorities in connection to his controversial ‘traitor’ comment. Reportedly, Kamra’s lawyer had requested an extension of a week at the Khar police station in Mumbai. However, the request has been rejected. Following this, Police officials have also issued a second summons to the comic.

Controversy After Kunal Kamra’s ‘Traitor’ Comment
After the clip went viral on social media, Shiv Sena warned of legal action and some of its workers vandalised the venue where the show was recorded. 12 party leaders were arrested but were later released on bail on Monday. A police case was also registered against Kamra, who is also facing widespread backlash for his words.
Meanwhile, Kunal Kamra has made it clear that he won’t apologise for his comments. It was recently reported that the comic told the police that he did not regret his remarks made during the show and would only apologise if instructed by the courts. However, Kamra said that he will adhere to the law.
