In a move to push EV culture in India, the government has been supporting the segment from every angle. To make the country the leading player in the battery-powered segment, the Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, said that the country is on its way to becoming the largest manufacturer of EVs, and the target will be achieved by 2030.

As per the report shared by teambhp, quoting the minister who said, " “When our government came to power in 2014, I spoke about electric vehicles. At that time, no one believed it, but today it’s a reality."

Reacting to the electrification, he added, “Back then, the Indian automotive industry was valued at Rs 14 lakh crore. It grew to Rs 22 lakh crore, surpassing Japan to become the world’s third largest automobile market, following USA and China."
