'Disappointing Result...': Sanjiv Goenka Addresses LSG Squad After Post-Match Chat With Rishabh Pant Goes Viral
Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka had a chat with his squad members after they endured a close defeat to Delhi Capitals on Sunday night.

Lucknow Super Giants endured a close defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals in their opening match of IPL 2025 held in Vizag on Sunday night. LSG would’ve been disappointed having allowed the game to slip away from their grasp after having reduced DC to 65/5 while defending a big total of 212 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam combined to bring DC back into the contest with the former hitting a blistering half-century. DC chased down the target with three deliveries and a wicket to spare.

LSG captain Rishabh Pant had a nightmare on his debut after joining the franchise for a record-breaking Rs 27 crore at the IPL mega auction last year. He was gotten rid for a six-ball duck before missing out on a tricky stumping chance that would have sealed the contest in LSG’s favour.
Additionally, his decision to use Shardul Thakur for just two overs also left head scratching given he took two wickets in his very first over.
After the contest, visuals of LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka having a discussion with Pant and head coach Justin Lange began circulating on social media. LSG parted ways with their captain KL Rahul last year after failing to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in three seasons.
LSG have now shared a clip of Goenka delivering a pep-up talk to the squad members after the “disappointing result".
“Lots of positive that I take away from this game in batting, in bowling," Goenka said. “The way we had the Powerplay in both batting and bowling was brilliant. We are a young team. Let’s look at the positives and look forward from tomorrow to the 27th. And hopefully, we’ll have a better result. Disappointing result but great game. So, well done."
LSG will be back on action on Thursday when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad.
