Hardik Pandya entered his name in the history books on Friday (April 4) by becoming the first captain to take a five-wicket haul in the IPL. The 31-year-old cricketer from Baroda, who is leading the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025, picked up five wickets for 36 runs in four overs on Friday against the Lucknow Super Giants at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Hardik opened his wicket account on Friday by dismissing Nicholas Pooran (12) on the fifth ball of the ninth over of LSG’s innings. The leading run scorer of IPL 2025 was caught by Deepak Chahar. On the fourth ball of his second over, Hardik removed his LSG counterpart Rishabh Pant. Pant was caught by substitute fielder Corbin Bosch after making 2 runs from six balls.
Hardik then bowled the 18th over of the LSG innings and, on the fifth ball, removed Aiden Markram. The South African T20I captain was caught by Raj Angad Bawa after making 53 runs from 38 balls. In the last over of LSG’s innings, Hardik first dismissed David Miller (27 from 14 balls) and then Akash Deep (golden duck). While Miller was caught by Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner completed Akash Deep’s catch on the fifth ball.
