CSK was far from being their best on the batting front. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side was tasked with chasing down a whopping 197-run target, thanks to a final-over boost by Tim David, who ended up scoring 22 runs in just 8 balls in his knock. From then on, despite bringing in Shivam Dube as the impact substitute, CSK were unable to establish control.
The fans at Chepauk will see the arrival of MS Dhoni as a big positive as he ended up playing out the rest of the innings, hammering a quick cameo of 30 in 16 balls to help reduce the deficit.
