Jasprit Bumrah Joins Elite List, Becomes Second Indian Pacer To...
Jasprit Bumrah of Mumbai Indians became the second Indian pacer to take 300 T20 wickets, achieving this milestone by dismissing Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025.

Mumbai Indians (MI) superstar Jasprit Bumrah became only the second Indian pacer to take 300 wickets in the T20 format on Wednesday. He took the wicket of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Heinrich Klaasen in the 19th over with a full-toss that the South African couldn’t help but flick straight to deep square leg, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium during IPL 2025 on Wednesday.
Only Bhuvneshwar Kumar had previously reached the milestone as an Indian pacer. However, even while Kumar has 318 wickets in 302 matches, Bumrah has taken only 237 games for his triple century. Other Indians to it include Ravichandran Ashwin (315 wickets in 331 matches), Piyush Chawla (319 wickets in 297 matches) and Yuzvendra Chahal (373 wickets in 320 matches). Rashid Khan leads the list with 640 scalps in 470 outings.

It needs to be noted that T20s include T20 internationals, domestic matches in recognised tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Indian Premier League.
Bumrah, despite not being in his best rhythm since returning from the serious back injury he suffered in Australia, has continued to pick wickets for MI. Even Klaasen’s wicket came on the last ball of his four-over quota against SRH, where he leaked 39 runs — with a third-worst economy rate of 9.80 in his team.
Heinrich Klaasen’s measured 71 and Abhinav Manohar’s 43 rescued a listless Sunrisers Hyderabad from a terrible start and guided them to 143/8.
SRH suffered an embarrassing batting collapse to slip to 35/5 in the first half before Klaasen took charge to avoid a complete disintegration.
Klaasen struck nine fours and two sixes for his 44-ball 71, putting on 99 for the sixth wicket with impact substitute Abhinav Manohar, who played a steady second fiddle with his 37-ball 43 (2x4s, 3x6s).
But it was a harrowing start for SRH who are placed second-last on the points table and face an uphill battle to keep themselves alive.
The lack of confidence was evident when SRH’s top-order crumbled without any apparent pressure on a dry, hard and flat deck.
Instead of putting pressure on the MI bowlers, SRH presented a meek batting show, which was compounded by a reckless decision from former Mumbai Indians batter Ishan Kishan (1) who walked back despite not having edged one behind the stumps.
