Batting superstar Virat Kohli played a big role for India in the Champions Trophy 2025. The right-handed batter played all five matches for Men in Blue, and with the help of one century and one fifty, scored 218 runs. He remained unbeaten on 100 runs against Pakistan in the Group A match played in Dubai on February 23, and in the semifinal against Australia, he scored 84 runs from 98 balls.

Most runs in the Champions Trophy for India

Kohli is India’s leading run scorer in Champions Trophy history. He broke Shikhar Dhawan’s record of 701 runs during his 84-run knock in the semifinal match played against Australia on March 4. Kohli has 747 runs to his name in 18 Champions Trophy matches. Only West Indies’ great Chris Gayle (791) is ahead of him in the run scorers list.

Joint-most successful Indian player in ICC events

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma became the first Indian players to win four ICC titles on Sunday (March 9). Kohli was a member of the Indian teams that won the ODI World Cup in 2011, T20 World Cup in 2024, and Champions Trophy titles in 2013 and 2025.

Joint-most finals in ICC events

Kohli has played nine ICC finals (2 ODI World Cups, 2 T20 World Cups, 2 WTC, and 3 Champions Trophies) for India, which is the joint-most by any player. Indian captain Rohit Sharma has also featured in nine ICC finals (3 T20 World Cups, 3 Champions Trophies, 2 WTCs, and 1 ODI World Cup).

Fastest to 14K runs in ODIs

During his 100-run knock against Pakistan, Kohli broke Sachin’s record and became the fastest batter in the world to score 14,000 runs in ODIs. Kohli crossed the 14,000-run mark in his 287th inning of the 299th match, whereas Tendulkar achieved the same feat in the 350th inning of the 359th ODI.

Most successful Indian fielder in ODIs

Kohli broke Mohammad Azharuddin’s record of 156 catches to become India’s most successful fielder in ODIs during the match played against Pakistan on February 23. He completed seven catches in five Champions Trophy 2025 matches, and it took his tally to 161. Only Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene (218) has completed more catches than him in the 50-over format of the game.

1st Indian to score a century in CT against Pakistan

Kohli became the first Indian batter to score a century in the Champions Trophy against Pakistan. He achieved the feat during the Group A match played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 23. Before Kohli, the highest score by an Indian batter in a Champions Trophy match against Pakistan was 91 by Rohit Sharma.

Most 50+ scores in CT & ICC ODI events

Kohli became the first batter to register seven 50+ scores in the Champions Trophy and 24 50+ scores in ICC ODI events during India’s semifinal against Australia. Five batters—Shikhar Dhawan, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Kane Williamson, and Rohit Sharma—have crossed the 50-run mark six times each in the Champions Trophy.

    Kohli broke Ponting’s record of 27,483 runs on February 23 and became the third leading run scorer in international cricket. He has 27,599 runs to his name in 550 international matches played so far.
