MS Dhoni To Retire After IPL 2025?
A viral post on X falsely claimed MS Dhoni retired from IPL, causing fan frenzy. The post was an April Fool's prank. Dhoni will continue playing for CSK in IPL 2025.

Cricket fans on social media went berserk when a post on X went viral showcasing a screengrab of MS Dhoni announcing his retirement from the ongoing Indian Premier League.
Many thought that the CSK and Indian cricketing legend had called time on his career abruptly, considering that the IPL 2025 season just got underway recently. In addition, Dhoni’s position in the side has come under scrutiny after the side’s loss in the previous two games against both the Rajasthan Royals and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

In both games, he had come into bat quite late in the innings, and many questioned whether he should have come earlier to give the side a fighting chance at taking the win.
Even his former CSK teammate, Shane Watson, called for Dhoni to come up the order.
“Given the game situation, Dhoni could have played like this for another 15 balls. Over the last couple of years, he has consistently shown that he’s still batting beautifully. I truly believe he should be promoted up the order so we can see the full extent of his skills," he shared as quoted by PTI.
Here’s The Truth
The truth is that these posts were shared as part of the April Fool’s Day prank, and Dhoni has not called time on his IPL career.
Several fan accounts have been spreading false news regarding his retirement on social media, which went viral. But the legend will be playing the IPL for the ongoing season. Dhoni’s future in the competition has yet to be confirmed, considering his struggles to maintain fitness at his age.
Dhoni will be back in action for the Chennai Super Kings’ next fixture, which is against the Delhi Capitals at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on April 5 (Saturday)
