Playing XIs
Pakistan: Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan (C & WK), Salman Ali Agha, Tayyab Tahir, Khushdil Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah, Abrar Ahmed
South Africa: Matthew Breetzke, Temba Bavuma (C), Tony de Zorzi, Kyle Verreynne (WK), Heinrich Klaasen, Wiaan Mulder, Senuran Muthusamy, Corbin Bosch, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi
That’s 19 runs of the last over and South Africa push past 350. A fantastic performance with the bat. They wanted to bat first and have done exceedingly well. It started with Bavuma and Matthew Breetzke putting a 119 run stand to lay the platform. Bavuma was unfortunately run out but Matthew Breetzke went on to score a fifty in just his second game. He too fell and the onus was on Heinrich Klaasen and Kyle Verreynne to take the game from thereon. The former played a really aggressive knock but it was Verreynne’s inning which made the big difference.
Back for the chase. Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam to open.
…THE CHASE…
Pakistan were really ordinary on the field and with the ball. They didn’t take their chances and were below par while executing their plan. They failed to put any pressure on the Proateas and allowed plenty of freebies. Not what you expect from the home team but that leaves them with a big task. A virtual semi final and whoever wins goes onto play the final. Looks like South Africa for now with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan unable to score but even South Africa have an inexperienced bowling line up. A thrilling run chase coming up…
