Kesari Chapter 2 Box Office Day 7: Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan Starrer Inches Close To Rs 50-Crore Mark

Kesari Chapter 2, the Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan starrer period courtroom drama film, has been generating a lot of buzz ever since its release on April 18. Helmed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film follows the story of C. Sankaran Nair, a lawyer who challenged the British Raj in the aftermath of the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Now, the film has successfully completed its first week in the theatres and crossed the Rs 45 crore mark.
According to sacnlik.com, the film minted Rs 3.50 crore on Thursday, taking the film’s total one-week collection to Rs 46.10 crore in seven days. Kesari Chapter 2 is yet to cross the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office.

Going by the records, despite getting positive reviews from fans and critics, the Akshay Kumar-starrer struggles to catch momentum. The first-week collection of Kesari Chapter 2 is much lower than that of Sky Force, which was Akshay’s last release. Backed by Maddock Films, it collected Rs 85 crore net at the box office in India.
In the coming weeks, Kesari Chapter 2 will face significant competition at the box office with the arrival of Emraan Hashmi’s action thriller Ground Zero and Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2.
Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Kesari Chapter 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2019 patriotic film Kesari. It features Akshay as the fearless lawyer C Sankaran Nair, while R Madhavan plays a British lawyer, R Neville McKinley and Ananya Panday plays a young lawyer, Dilreet Gill.
The film received applause from several Bollywood celebs upon its release, including Ektaa Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, Sunny Kaushal, Varun Dhawan, Ibrahim Ali Khan and Suneil Shetty among others.
Akshay will be next seen in the much-awaited comedy film Housefull 5, scheduled to hit the big screens in June this year. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film also features an ensemble cast including Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nana Patekar, Chunky Panday, Shreyas Talpade and others.
Apart from that, he also has films like Jolly LLB 3, Bhoot Bangla and Hera Pheri 3 in his kitty.
R Madhavan, on the other hand, will be next seen in the romantic drama Aap Jaisa Koi with Fatima Sana Shaikh.
