Pant came out to bat at No. 7 for Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday against his former team, Delhi Capitals, and got out for a two-ball duck.

Rishabh Pant is playing for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. He was signed for Rs 27 crore by the Lucknow-based franchise in the mega auction last year. The ongoing season has been a forgetful one for the 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Delhi, and on Tuesday (April 22) he hit a new low. It was his second duck of the ongoing season against Delhi Capitals. In the last match played between the two teams at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on March 24, Pant failed to open his account and got out for a six-ball duck.
After Pant failed to do anything with the bat in front of Lucknow fans, social media users took to X to troll him heavily. Several posts mocking Pant are going viral on the internet.
Pant scored a half-century in the last IPL match played at Ekana Stadium against Chennai Super Kings, and there were hopes that he would come out to bat at No. 4 once again after Aiden Markram (52) and Mitchell Marsh (45) helped the hosts get off to a flying start, but to everyone’s surprise, Pant promoted Abdul Samad (2 runs from 8 balls) to bat at four. David Miller came to bat at No. 5, and Ayush Badoni (36 runs) was used as an impact player by LSG despite having the likes of Pant available on the bench.
The tactics of Pant delaying his arrival also invited criticism for him, and fans even questioned his intent.
Pant’s performance in IPL 2025
In IPL 2025, Pant has come out to bat in eight innings. He scored a five-ball duck against DC on March 24 and 15 from 15 balls against SRH in Vizag on March 27. In LSG’s next two matches played against PBKS and MI, Pant scored two runs each. He didn’t get a chance to bat in LSG’s fifth league match against KKR, which was played at Eden Gardens on April 8.
Pant scored 21 runs as opening batter against Gujarat Titans in Lucknow on April 12 and made 63 against Chennai Super Kings at the same venue on April 14.
In LSG’s last match against Rajasthan Royals, Pant was sent back to the pavilion by Wanindu Hasaranga for 3 runs from nine balls.
