International Women's Day 2025: Did You Know These Mumbai Metro Stations Are Fully Operated By Women?
Mumbai Metro: The initiative aims to recognise and celebrate the contributions of women in the transportation industry.

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 every year to recognise women’s feats, promote women empowerment, and raise awareness about gender equality. In today’s world, women are dominating every walk of life—be it travelling to space or ruling a country. They consistently contribute to making the world a better place through their unwavering gusto, convictions and determination. On this special occasion, let’s acknowledge the women in those metro stations in Mumbai, that are fully operated by ladies.
Akurli on line 2A and Eksar on line 7 were the first all-women stations in the Mumbai Metro. The operations started with a team of 76 women employees, including the station manager and the security staff. Interesting, isn’t it?
