This will also ensure better security during the event, said the Kumbh Mela officials. For the first time in Maha Kumbh, online passes will be issued to avoid any kind of inconvenience and a website will be also launched where people can apply for the passes, said Maha Kumbh Mela district magistrate Vijay Kiran Anand as per a Hindustan Times report.

The new district has been set up for four months during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025.

Earlier, the vehicle passes issued during the fair were regular ones, simply bearing a vehicle’s registration numbers. However, this time they will be made in different colours including red, blue and green which will determine how far the pass holder can move.

Explaining this further, the official said that as many people will enter the fair area with their vehicles, some will be associated with security or administration members to go up to Sangam and others will only need access to the parade area but would still need to enter the fare to reach the destination. In such cases, colourful passes are necessary to avoid any sort of crowding.

The QR codes will be added to the pass, displaying the pass holder’s name and vehicle registration details.

On the other hand, the Uttar Pradesh government is also set to launch an e-rickshaw and e-auto booking system, focusing on promoting a green Mahakumbh.
