Mumbai Western Suburban Railway Schedule To Get Disrupted Due To Borivali-Kandivali Bridge Work
The traffic and power block will begin at 1 pm on Saturday, April 26, and will last until midnight on Sunday, April 27.
Local trains in Mumbai have been a popular mode of transport in the city, but crucial development work is set to obstruct travel. Commuters on Western Railway’s suburban network may expect substantial delays this weekend due to a 35-hour special traffic and power block between Borivali and Kandivali for critical bridge work. The block has been designated for the re-girdering of Bridge Number 61, which is an important section of the Khais Rahman suburban train route.
The traffic and power block will begin at 1 pm on Saturday, April 26, and will last until midnight on Sunday, April 27. During this time, 163 local train services will be interrupted. 73 services will be cancelled beginning Saturday afternoon, and 90 will be suspended until Sunday. The cancellation of these services will have a substantial impact on the daily commute of thousands of passengers between Borivali, Kandivali and other neighboring areas.

Numerous mail and express trains will experience partial cancellations or redirections throughout the block time, in addition to local train disruptions. Over the weekend, trains, including the Ahmedabad-Borivali-Ahmedabad and Borivali-Nandurbar-Borivali Express, would be cancelled entirely or partially. Western Railway officials have recommended that customers check train schedules and plan their trips accordingly to prevent delays.
The Mumbai Traffic Police has formally approved the closure of the bridge beginning tonight. The closure will last two years and is likely to have a substantial impact on travel routes, emergency access, and the daily lives of nearby residents and businesses. Use an alternative east-west link, such as Delisle Road or Currey Road. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has planned several water-supply projects in Ghatkopar (West). These works will begin at 10 am on Saturday and continue for 24 hours. As a result, the water supply in some areas of the N and L Wards will be halted at this time.
Reportedly, apart from Mumbai, traffic on Ghodbunder Road in Thane district of Maharashtra will be disrupted as road repair work slated for April 26 begins on Saturday. The Thane Traffic Police said in a notification that road repairs at the Gaimukh Ghat part of the Thane-Ghodbunder Road (State Highway No. 84) will take place from April 26 to April 27.
