Rajasthan Woman Waits 8 Years for Baby, Drowns Him in Water Tank 20 Days After Birth
Preliminary investigation suggests the mentally distressed mother, overwhelmed by anxieties about her son’s future, allegedly ended his life by drowning him on Tuesday night
A 20-day-old infant was allegedly drowned by her mother in a water tank located at their residence in a village in Rajasthan. The woman has been apprehended.
The baby was her first child and had arrived eight years after the couple’s marriage. The family was left devastated upon discovering the infant’s murder.

Neem Ka Thana Additional Superintendent of Police, Girdhari Lal Sharma, stated that the 20-day-old infant’s body was discovered in a water tank at their residence at Neem Ka Thana’s Jeelo village, under the jurisdiction of Dabla police station, two days ago.
Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the spot to assess the situation. The family had initially claimed that an unknown individual had thrown the child into the water tank. However, following discussions with the family and a thorough examination of the scene, the police conducted a comprehensive investigation.

As they pieced together the evidence, it was found out that the child’s mother, Suman Saini alias Saroj Devi, was responsible for the infant’s death. In a bid to mislead her family, she repeatedly resorted to crying and pretended to faint. With the facts unequivocally pointing to her guilt, the police arrested the mother for the murder of her son.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused mother, grappling with mental distress, took her son’s life. Since his birth, she had been plagued by anxieties about his upbringing and future. Driven by this overwhelming dilemma, she allegedly threw her innocent son into the water tank on Tuesday night, leading to his tragic demise. However, the police are diligently investigating all other angles in this case.
The child’s aunt informed the police that on Tuesday, after dinner, everyone went to sleep. The mother, sister-in-law, and two children were at home, and the child slept beside his grandmother. However, after midnight, the child went missing from the cot, and the family started searching for him. Finally, they noticed that the lid of the water tank located outside their residence was open. When they looked inside, they found the child floating.
The child’s father, Krishna Kumar, works in the Fire Brigade Department in Rajasthan’s Ratangarh. He had shared that the deceased was their first child, born after eight years of consulting several doctors and offering prayers at numerous temples.
