The parents of the victim demanded strict action, alleging that no lifeguard was present at the spot when the accident took place.

According to Granth’s father, his son got into the pool at nearly 11 a.m., and was found floating 45 minutes later.

“My son had just completed Std V. Just a week ago, he told me he wanted to learn swimming, so I enrolled him for classes. On Sunday, Granth went to the sports complex with four friends, accompanied by one of their parents. He entered the pool around 11 am, but around 11:45 am, he was found floating. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival," Midday quoted Granth’s father as saying.
