Woman Flees With Cash, Gold Worth Lakhs Days After Wedding In Rajasthan
In Rajasthan's Hanumangarh, widower Premarat was duped by his newly-wed, Suman, who drugged him and fled with valuables worth lakhs.

A bizarre and shocking case of matrimonial fraud emerged from Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district, where a middle-aged man, seeking companionship after the loss of his wife, fell victim to an elaborate matrimonial fraud. The widower got re-married to a woman who had presented herself as a widow and just days after the wedding, she vanished taking with her a trove of valuables and cash.
The incident, now under police investigation, unfolded after 52-year-old Premarat, a resident of Hanumangarh, was introduced to a woman named Suman by his relative, Gangaram. According to police reports, Gangaram convinced Premarat that Suman, a young widow, was in need of a husband, and he facilitated their marriage in January.

Before the wedding, Suman and Gangaram allegedly extracted multiple payments from Premarat, amounting to several lakhs. Believing in his new relationship, Premarat continued to oblige. The wedding was held in the town of Shivani, and following the ceremony, Suman moved into Premarat’s home. For three days, everything appeared normal – until the fateful night when the bride made her move.
According to the police report, on the third night of the marriage, Suman laced a glass of milk with sedatives and gave it to Premarat. As soon as he drank it, he fell unconscious. Taking advantage of the situation, Suman fled in the dead of night, carrying away gold jewellery, including earrings, a nose ring, a mangalsutra, and silver anklets, amounting to a total value of Rs 80,806, along with additional cash and valuables.
Upon regaining consciousness, Premarat discovered that not only was his wife missing, but so were his belongings. Realising that he had been duped, he approached the police to report the incident. The cops at Nohar police station, acting on a court order, registered a case against Suman and her accomplice Gangaram. Investigations suggest that the duo belongs to a notorious ‘bride robbery’ gang, which targets vulnerable men seeking marriage.
Police officers handling the case confirmed that legal proceedings are underway, and efforts are being made to trace the culprits.
