BTS Reunion Confirmed In 2025? HYBE CEO Shares Big Update On K-Pop Band's Comeback: 'We're Preparing'
HYBE CEO shares an update on BTS’ comeback, revealing why the members need more time even after military discharge.

Fans eagerly awaiting BTS’ return in 2025 may have to wait a little longer, as HYBE CEO Lee Jae Sang provided an important update regarding the group’s comeback timeline. With five BTS members—Suga, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—currently fulfilling their mandatory military service, the agency clarified that while their discharge is expected in June 2025, the process of reuniting and making new music will take time.
Speaking at a press conference in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on March 31, Lee Jae Sang addressed expectations surrounding BTS’ return. Koreaboo quoted him saying, “The BTS members are set to complete their military service by the end of the first half of this year, and they will need time for preparation and production before resuming activities. The company is also preparing by discussing with top-tier composers, but the artists (BTS members) themselves need time for deliberation and preparation."

Why BTS Needs Time Before Their Comeback
HYBE’s CEO explained that a comeback for BTS is not just about releasing new songs but involves extensive planning. “Typically, the process involves working on songs, releasing an album, and then going on tour. However, since BTS has already risen to the level of global top artists, they are continuously discussing their vision and their ‘next’ phase. It is necessary to consider and align with this direction carefully."
BTS, consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, has been on hiatus as a group since June 2022 to focus on solo projects and fulfill their military duties.
Where Are the BTS Members Now?
Jin was the first to enlist in December 2022 and was discharged in June 2024. Before serving, he debuted as a solo artist with Astronaut.
J-Hope, the rapper and dancer of BTS, enlisted in April 2023 and completed his service in October 2024. He had released his solo album Jack in the Box before leaving.
Suga enlisted in September 2023 as a social service agent due to a prior shoulder injury. He is expected to finish his service by June 2025. Before enlisting, he released D-Day under his solo alias Agust D and launched his hit drinking talk show Suchwita.
RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook all enlisted together in December 2023 and will complete their service in June 2025.
Before heading off, each member kept fans engaged with solo projects. RM released Indigo, Jimin dropped Face, and V debuted with Layover while continuing his work with global fashion brands like Celine and Cartier. Jungkook made waves with Golden and his chart-topping singles Seven and 3D.
BTS’ Hiatus and What Comes Next
BTS officially announced a group hiatus on June 14, 2022, during their annual Festa dinner. They emphasized that the break was not a disbandment but a necessary period to focus on solo ventures and fulfill military duties. Now, as 2025 approaches, HYBE is preparing for the group’s grand return, but the timeline remains uncertain.
With members reuniting in mid-2025, fans may have to wait longer for a full-fledged comeback, but anticipation remains sky-high for BTS’ next chapter.
