NewJeans Breaks Silence After Losing Legal Battle With ADOR: ‘It Took A Huge Amount Of Courage To…’
NewJeans opens up after losing the legal battle against ADOR, vowing to keep speaking up despite the challenges.

NewJeans has finally spoken out in their first interview since a South Korean court ruled in favour of their label, ADOR, blocking their attempt to terminate their contract. The five-member group — Hanni, Hyein, Haerin, Danielle, and Minji — described the ordeal as emotionally draining but necessary to protect their rights.
In an interview with BBC, the girl group expressed their determination to continue fighting despite the challenges. “It took a huge amount of courage to speak out," Haerin shared. “This fight is necessary. Although it will be extremely difficult and arduous, we will keep doing what we have done so far and speak up."

Fans were left shocked in November when NewJeans announced their decision to part ways with ADOR, citing mistreatment, workplace harassment and deliberate attempts to sabotage their careers. ADOR, which debuted NewJeans and propelled them to global fame, denied these allegations and took legal action to enforce the group’s seven-year contract. The label also secured a court injunction preventing the members from pursuing independent music releases and brand endorsements.
While the court’s ruling temporarily binds NewJeans to ADOR, the group has already filed an appeal, determined to challenge the verdict. Reacting to the judgment, Hyein admitted that the outcome was disheartening and addressed misconceptions surrounding their influence. “Some people think we’re famous enough to do whatever we want. But the truth is, it’s not like that at all," she clarified.
The case has ignited a conversation about artist rights and contractual disputes in the K-pop industry, with fans and industry insiders closely watching how the situation unfolds. Despite the legal hurdles, NewJeans remains determined in their commitment to make their voices heard.
Meanwhile, ADOR continues to maintain that no workplace harassment or misconduct occurred, standing by its initial statements denying any wrongdoing.
As NewJeans gears up for the next phase of their legal battle, their determination to protect their artistic freedom and challenge industry norms has only grown stronger.
