R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh are all set to share screen space in an exciting new project under Dharmatic Entertainment, and there is excitement to see the fresh collaboration on screen. While the film went on floors last month, in November, it was being reported that the film will be titled Tharki. However, as per the latest update, ‘Tharki’ is not the title of this rom-com. Bollywood Hungama reported that this film is now called ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’.
A source informed the portal, “Karan Johar’s next with R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh is directed by Vivek Soni, best known for Meenakshi Sundareshwar. After contemplating the title Tharki, the film is now called Aap Jaisa Koi. Karan is a big fan of this song and has decided to go ahead with the title." The source further added that the title blends perfectly with the concept of the film. It is a quirky romance between an older man and a younger woman, offering a refreshing take on love stories.

“The title blends well with the concept of the film, where a 40-year-old fans in love with a woman in her early 30s. The duo meet on a dating app, and the story takes off from there. The film is set in Mumbai and Kolkata," said the source. The film will reportedly premiere on Netflix in 2025.
‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ marks Fatima Sana Shaikh’s second collaboration with Dharmatic Entertainment after her role in the Netflix anthology ‘Ajeeb Daastaans’, produced by Karan Johar’s digital arm. Meanwhile, this film will also see R Madhavan return to the romance genre after many years.
Fatima Sana Shaikh was last seen in Meghna Gulzar’s biographical war drama film ‘Sam Bahadur’, which released in 2023. She has an interesting lineup of films including Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro… In Dino’ with Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan, as well as in ‘Ul Jalool Ishq’ with Naseeruddin Shah and Vijay Varma.
On the other hand, R Madhavan was last seen in the supernatural horror film ‘Shaitaan’, directed by Vikas Bahl. Apart from ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’, he also has an untitled film co-starring Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday, based on the biopic of C Sankaran Nair.
