Shah Rukh Khan Warned Fan Over Selfie Without Permission, Says Bodyguard Yusuf Ibrahim: 'They Get Very Little...'
Celebrity bodyguard Yusuf Ibrahim opens up about the challenges of safeguarding stars like Shah Rukh Khan, sharing an incident where SRK rebuked a fan for crossing boundaries.

Celebrity bodyguards often operate in the shadows, yet they play an indispensable role in safeguarding the lives of the stars they protect. These professionals witness the complexities of fame firsthand, balancing intense pressure and unpredictable situations. Yusuf Ibrahim, a prominent celebrity bodyguard, recently shed light on the challenges of the job and recounted some unforgettable moments from his career, including an incident involving Shah Rukh Khan and an overzealous fan.
Speaking with Siddharth Kannan, Yusuf explained the fine line between admiration and intrusion that fans often cross. “The media often looks for moments they can catch and make viral. But stars are human too. When someone suddenly barges in for a photo, especially when they might have a different mindset at the time, it’s not acceptable. Fans need to maintain boundaries and show respect. Instead of rushing in with a phone, they should politely ask if a photo is possible."

Yusuf also emphasized the need for fans to empathize with the immense demands placed on celebrities. “Fans should understand that stars are human as well. Watching a video and making judgments is easy, but the reality of their lives is much more challenging. Fans will think their life is much easier once they see a star’s life. They work incredibly hard behind the scenes—sitting in makeup for hours, staying under harsh lights for 12 hours straight. In between all this hard work, they get very little personal time. If someone invades that space, especially when they’re exhausted after a long day, it’s natural for anyone to get upset or irritated. They are human, after all, and reactions like that are understandable."
In a candid recollection, Yusuf shared a challenging yet unforgettable episode involving Shah Rukh Khan’s visit to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah during the IPL season. “During the IPL, Shah Rukh sir wanted to go to Ajmer Sharif dargah. We reached there and the day we selected was wrong, a Friday, and the time was also not right, at 12:30, ekdum peak namaaz ka time. At any given time if you go there on Friday, there will be 10-15K people," he recounted.
As news of Shah Rukh Khan’s visit spread, chaos erupted in the town of Ajmer. Yusuf described the surreal experience: “When we went there, the whole town of Ajmer knew that Shah Rukh was coming to the Dargah. There was so much public, that we were literally standing there, logon ne humko dhakka maarke dargah legaye and dhakka maarke apne aap gaadi mai laake baitha diya (We didn’t walk, people pushed us to the Dargah and then back to the car)."
Despite the overwhelming crowd and the need for police intervention, Shah Rukh Khan maintained his composure throughout the ordeal. Yusuf lauded the superstar’s temperament, saying, “It was a difficult experience, police had to do lathicharge to disperse them from there. There was so much madness. It was a lifetime experience for me. When such situations happen, he is damn cool about it. Shah Rukh is damn cool when such situations happen, he knows that it’s not anyone’s fault – neither staff nor fans. It’s just the excitement of his fans, so everyone knows this is what happens. The temperament is always cool, nice and easy going."
Among his many memories, Yusuf cherishes a particularly emotional moment with Shah Rukh Khan. “When he met my mom and dad, Shah Rukh sir said that he is a hardworking kid and cares a lot for me. That meant everything to me what he said. My mom and dad got emotional. Shah Rukh Khan was appreciating their son, it’s not a joke," he shared.
On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his next big release, King. The film also serves as a major debut for his daughter, Suhana Khan, alongside Munjya star Abhay Verma. While details about the project remain under wraps, anticipation among fans continues to build.
