“Auditions for the male lead have been happening for a long time now. Tusharr (Khanna) also auditioned, and it went well. The casting team is impressed and is considering signing him as one of the male leads. But nothing has been finalised as of now," a source close to the film’s production told us.
However, when we reached out to Tusharr Khanna, he refused to comment.
Tusharr is known for shows like Naagin and Piya Albela. He made his Bollywood debut last year with Starfish, but the film failed to leave a mark at the box office.
The first Student of the Year movie was released in 2012 and launched three actors into the industry — Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra. The second film in the franchise was released in 2019 and starred Tiger Shroff alongside Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria, with Aditya Seal.
Last year, Karan Johar celebrated 12 years of the first Student Of The Year movie when he took to his Instagram handle and penned a special note. “Let’s start with… there’s something about ‘today,’ something very special!!! 12 years and I look back at the film I embarked on, solely to have the best time of my life. And best time, it was! #SOTY," the filmmaker wrote.
