Vishnu Manchu, Mohan Babu and Akshay Kumar’s Kannappa has been delayed. The film was supposed to be released on April 25, marking Akshay Kumar’s Telugu debut. However, the makers require more time to perfect the VFX work in the film. Vishnu Manchu also shared a note to confirm this development.
The note read, “Dear fans, well-wishers and movie lovers, bringing #KANNAPPA to life has been an incredible journey, and we are committed to delivering a cinematic spectacle that meets the Highest Standards. To ensure this, we need a few more weeks to perfect a key episode requiring extensive VFX work. This means the release of the project will be a bit delayed."

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and backed by veteran actor Mohan Babu, Kannappa brings to life the legendary tale of an ardent Shiva devotee. The film stars Vishnu Manchu in the titular role, with an ensemble cast including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmanandam, Raghu Babu, Preity Mukhundhan, and Madhoo.
Kannappa also boasts special cameo appearances by some of Indian cinema’s biggest stars, including Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal. The teaser shared a glimpse of Prabhas as ‘Divine Guardian’ Rudra. It also revealed that Akshay Kumar will be essaying the role of Lord Shiva in his Telugu debut.
