The popular talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, is currently in its sixth season, but host Kelly Clarkson has taken a temporary break from her duties. For quite some time now, guest hosts have been filling in for the Emmy-winning singer and actor Simu Liu, who stepped in last week. Simu revealed to the audience that he was only informed about hosting the show five minutes before going live. Although the reason behind Kelly’s absence remains unclear, the Shang Chi star made sure to send her his best wishes. Simu isn’t alone, as more celebrities like Roy Wood Jr., Wanda Sykes, Josh Groban, Brooke Shields, Willie Geist and Molly Sims, took turns recording episodes.

At the beginning of the show, Simu informed the audience and viewers that he had “a confession to make." The actor added, “I am not Kelly Clarkson. I know this may shock many of you, but Kelly, actually, isn’t able to make it today. We’re sending her our very best. Here’s the thing. I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived here to promote my new movie, Last Breath. It’s a cool film. So, I’m here now and look, I’m not one to back down from a challenge, okay? And I hosted the show about three years ago. It was a great experience."
