Fan Jokingly Calls Out Abhishek Upmanyu For Ignoring X Premium Gift, Gets A Priceless Reaction
Premium subscribers get benefits like the ability to edit posts, upload longer videos, write longer posts and even create communities.

When you give someone a gift, you usually expect at least a small reaction like a thank you, a smile and even if nothing then just a nod of acknowledgement. But what if the person doesn’t even realise they have received something? Annoying, right? That is exactly what happened when a Mumbai-based man decided to gift comedian Abhishek Upmanyu an X Premium subscription. He thought it would be a nice gesture but there was just one problem— Upmanyu had no idea.
The man, Darshan Rajguru, then shared his lighthearted complaint on X. In a post, he wrote, “I gifted Abhishek Upmanyu a year’s subscription of X Premium some days ago. You can check, he has a blue tick now. Dude deserves it. I watch all his shows on YouTube for free anyway. But the dude didn’t even acknowledge it. This is so going into my autobiography."

It turns out that Upmanyu was completely unaware of this unexpected gift. But once he finally saw the post, he responded with a playful remark: “WHAT THE… bro that’s very, very sweet! Maine dhyaan he nahi diya. Ye meri autobiography mein bhi jayega (I didn’t even notice. This will go in my autobiography too)."
The comedian even reposted Darshan’s tweet, writing, “Rare occasion of someone being nice on this platform."
As soon as the post started gaining traction, social media users shared their hilarious reactions to it.
One user quipped, “This is like those car window cleaners who ask for money for a service that they weren’t asked for and cry foul. Entitlement."
Another joked, “Well that’s one way of getting someone’s attention lol."
An individual remarked, “Neki kar, d̵h̵a̵r̵i̵y̵a̵ twitter pe daal," which is a fun spin on the classic Hindi phrase, “Neki kar dariya mein daal (Be discreet with your kindness)."
“Muje bhi gift kardo. Acknowledgment kya, Linkedin post pe bhi mention kar dungi mai toh (Gift me one too. Forget just acknowledgment, I’ll even mention it in a LinkedIn post," another humourously shared.
In the comment section, many people were surprised to learn that an X Premium subscription can even be gifted. As per the X Help Center, Premium and Premium+ subscriptions can be given as gifts to non-subscribers. Here is how:
Visit a non-premium user’s profile on X and tap the gift icon
Choose between Premium or Premium+ and tap ‘Gift & Pay’ to complete the purchase
The recipient gets a notification and automatically receives the subscription
Premium subscribers get benefits like the ability to edit posts, upload longer videos, write longer posts and even create communities.
So technically, Upmanyu did receive a notification when the subscription was gifted to him, he just didn’t notice it.
