The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been adamant about not sending the team to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Many former and current Pakistani players have already shared their thoughts on this issue. While some of them urged India to change their stance, others criticised them for the issue. Pakistan white-ball captain Muhammad Rizwan was also asked about the same during a recent interview. Once the video went viral, Indian business tycoon Harsh Goenka reshared it on X (formerly Twitter), asking social media users to comprehend Rizwan’s reply.

Ahead of the first ODI at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Muhammad Rizwan was questioned about India’s refusal to visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. In response, he said something that appeared to be quite incoherent.

Harsh Goenka shared the footage and wrote, “If you can understand what the Pakistan captain Muhammad Rizwan is saying do let me know." After the post surfaced on X, many felt that the Goenka probably tried to take a dig at Rizwan’s English-speaking skills.

Considering the same, one social media user commented, “I have always felt that it’s wrong. When someone can’t speak English, why interview him in English? Makes no sense. They earn so much money through players, can’t they hire a translator? Why does the need to learn a different language just because you are a cricketer?"

Another user sarcastically wrote that Harsh Goenka should hire Muhammad Rizwan “for media & investor communications at RPG Group."

“PCB should just hire one interpreter to go with the team instead of facing this embarrassment," suggested an individual.

According to the BCCI, the Indian government is against visiting Pakistan for any kind of cricket assignment due to the political tension between the two neighbouring countries. The Indian board has proposed a hybrid model that can allow them to play their Champions Trophy matches in a neutral venue like the UAE. The ICC competition is scheduled to start on February 19 next year.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team is now in Australia for a multi-format tour. Pakistan registered a 2-1 win in the three-match ODI series. Australia have bounced back well in the T20I leg and have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match assignment.
