Hyderabad Woman Says She Regrets Rs 525 Corn Dish At Virat Kohli’s Restaurant, Internet Reacts
Some users clarified that fancy restaurants not only charge for the food but also for the ambience and the overall service.
A woman from Hyderabad has voiced her concern over an expensive dish at Virat Kohli’s rest-o-bar – One8 Commune. Sneha, a student of the Indian School of Business, claimed that she had to pay more than Rs 500 for a few slices of “bhutta" (corn on the cob) at the One8 Commune. She shared a glimpse of the food on X (formerly Twitter). The picture showed some pieces of corn being served on a plate alongside a lemon slice and a dipping sauce garnished with scallions. “Paid Rs 525 for this today at One8 Commune," Sneha wrote in the caption.
The youngster had reportedly ordered a veg dish named Peri Peri Corn Ribs at the One8 Commune in Hyderabad. As described on the menu, the corn would be served with parmesan cheese, garlic aioli and scallion. What shocked Sneha the most was the high price tag of the dish. Notably, the sum she mentioned in her X post was without taxes.

Like Sneha, many users were left stunned after seeing the price. After her post surfaced on the internet, some laughed at her for spending too much on that item while others clarified that fancy restaurants not only charge for the food but also for the ambience and the overall service.
Another woman shared that the price would rise to Rs 605 after adding taxes. “You paid for the “community" One8 has created– the people hanging around, the music… coming from the high rent, higher than average staff salary," noted a user.
Echoing the same sentiment, another remarked, “You didn’t pay for the corn. You paid for the vibes." In a stern response, a person labelled One8 Commune as an “overrated restaurant". Another asked why Shena had ordered the food when she knew the price beforehand. “Now, stop crying," added the user. An individual humorously called it “Corny Capitalism".
One8 Commune was co-founded by Virat Kohli and his childhood friend Vartik Tihara in 2022. Their outlets are spread across several top cities Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The restaurant brand offers continental and Italian cuisine. The phrase “One8" is derived from Kohli’s iconic jersey number 18 while “commune" means a collective space dedicated to physical and mental health.
