Following the guidance of the Dadhichi Dehdaan Samiti and the hospital staff, Saraswati’s parents were made aware of the option to donate the body. In an extraordinary act of generosity, they agreed, and her body was donated to the hospital’s anatomy department. This act of selfless giving marks the first case of its kind.
Dr Anurag Agarwal, the Medical Superintendent of Doon Hospital, shared that on December 8, a couple from Haridwar came to Doon Hospital with their baby girl, who was struggling to breathe due to a heart-related issue.
Despite the doctors’ best efforts, she passed away on December 10. After the tragedy, the Mohan Foundation and Dadhichi Dehdaan Samiti encouraged the parents to donate their daughter’s body.
Dr Agarwal remarked that although the girl had been in this world for only two days, her donation would contribute to the welfare of society. Donating a body after death helps medical professionals better understand human anatomy, and this selfless act will inspire others to consider body donation as a way to support medical research and education.
The hospital administration honoured the girl’s parents with a plant in recognition of their remarkable decision.
