“One of our followers met Selena Gomez and she said ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on the occasion of Diwali," wrote Pallav Paliwal while sharing the video on Instagram. He completed his post with the hashtag “#superexclusive".
Contrary to the caption, Selena Gomez does not actually chant “Jai Shree Ram" in the video. Additionally, the footage does not appear to be recent, as her outfit matches one she wore at the Cannes Film Festival last year.
The now-viral video shows the Indian man taking a selfie with Gomez. As the video goes on, he thanks her for the selfie and asks her to chant “Jai Shree Ram". Gomez appears visibly confused by the request. The man then attempts to clarify, saying, “India’s best slogan – Jai Shree Ram." She, however, ignores the man’s request politely and instead responds with “Aww, thank you, honey".
