The Chinese company claims that its car’s battery will be fully charged even before you finish your cup of tea, just like refuelling a petrol or diesel car

This is the new era of technology where speed is paramount, with tasks being completed in minutes. With the boom in the market for electric vehicles, charging points and speed remain a point of consideration for many. However, China’s new e-car manufacturing company claims that their car’s battery will take just a few minutes to fully charge.
The company claims that their car’s battery will be fully charged even before you finish your cup of tea, just like refuelling a petrol or diesel car. The company also claims the car can cover a distance of up to 470 km without stopping. This amazing technology has been showcased by China’s e-car manufacturing company, BYD.

The biggest problem for e-car buyers is the charging time, which takes hours. But, Wang Chanfu, chairman and founder of Chinese company BYD, claims that the battery of their new Han L sedan can be fully charged in just 5 minutes. This car can travel 292 miles, approximately 470 km, on a single charge. The company will also start selling this car from next month.
Tough Competition to Tesla
The company has also introduced a new platform for manufacturing e-cars, which will be used to produce many cars in the future. BYD has also achieved the status of the world’s best-selling e-car company, surpassing Tesla, and soon this company is preparing to enter the Indian market as well. The company claims that charging its vehicle will take the same time as a petrol engine vehicle takes to refuel at a petrol station.
The new technology will also encourage those who are hesitant to buy e-cars due to lengthy charging times during long-distance travel. BYD’s supercharge technology has also presented tough competition to Tesla and Mercedes Benz. Tesla’s superchargers can add 275 kilometres of range in 15 minutes. However, Tesla’s network is much larger, with more than 65,000 superchargers worldwide.
Mercedes-Benz Group AG’s new entry-level CLA electric sedan, introduced last week, can add 325 kilometres of range in 10 minutes of charging. However, BYD is ahead of both, offering a range of 470 kilometres in just 5 minutes.
Speed
BYD’s new EV platform can accelerate its cars from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 2 seconds. These cars will go on sale from April. The first models with ultra-fast charging will be the Han L and Tang L sport utility vehicles. They will be priced at 270,000 yuan ($37,338) and 280,000 yuan, respectively. BYD will build more than 4,000 charging stations to accommodate the new technology. The company sold more than 318,000 passenger vehicles last month, up 161% compared to last year.
