Owning a fleet of 7,000 cars and with an estimated wealth of $50 billion, Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is the world’s longest-reigning monarch alive, known for his extravagant lifestyle. Born on July 15, 1946, to Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III, Bolkiah was chosen as a successor to his father from a very young age. As the 29th sultan of the family, he ascended to the throne in August 1968, only to become famous globally for his billion-dollar fortune. From spending big at casinos, on luxury cars, yachts, and hotels, to commissioning his private zoo, Bolkiah had his extravaganzas.

    Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, who is also the prime minister of Brunei, holds many high-ranking positions, adding more to his fortune. Under his rule, Brunei’s status solidified as one of the richest nations based on oil wealth. His luxurious lifestyle and fortune have been fascinating people for decades now.

    He commissioned a $600 million palace, called Istana Nurul Iman, where he currently resides. The palace houses 1,778 rooms, 257 bathrooms, a lavish throne room, a polo complex, a large mosque, five swimming pools, and even a garage with a capacity for 110 cars. It was named the “world’s largest residential palace" by the Guinness World Records.

      Additionally, the Sultan is also famous for his love for cars, owning a private collection of 500 Rolls-Royces, among other vehicles. His extensive collection includes over 7,000 cars from the brands of Ferrari, Mercedes, Bentley, BMW, and Jaguar, and even three of the five McLaren F1 LM cars ever produced. Bolkiah also owns a private aircraft collection, which reportedly features a gold-plated Boeing 747 400, among other jets and helicopters.

      As per reports, the Sultan spends approximately $20,000 for a single haircut, for which he arranges for his favourite London-based barber to fly first class to Brunei.
