Virat Kohli scored a brilliant century for India in the Champions Trophy 2025 match played against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday, February 23. The former India captain faced 111 balls during his stay at the crease and, with the help of seven fours, scored 100 runs. He helped India chase down the target of 242 runs in 42.3 overs for the loss of four wickets. For his superb show with the bat, the 36-year-old right-handed batter won Player of the Match against Men in Green.

Virat, who has 51 centuries to his name in ODI cricket, would like to maintain his form and come up with a big show with the bat in the Indian team’s next match against New Zealand, which is scheduled to take place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 2.

If during India’s match against New Zealand, Kohli manages to score at least 51 runs, then he will break Shikhar Dhawan’s record and become India’s leading run scorer in the tournament’s history. Dhawan played 10 Champions Trophy matches for Men in Blue and scored 701 runs.

    Most runs in Champions Trophy: Kohli will break Chris Gayle’s record and become the leading run scorer in Champions Trophy history if he manages to score at least 142 runs against New Zealand. If he manages to score at least 106 runs on Sunday, then he will break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 1750 runs and become India’s leading run scorer in the 50-over format of the game against the Kiwis. The overall record of scoring most ODI runs against New Zealand is held by Ricky Ponting. During his 17-year-long international career, Ponting scored 1971 runs in 51 matches.
