After Shubman Gill-Abhishek Sharma, Is Yuvraj Singh Mentoring Another Punjab Star
Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma are the two most successful players coming as a result of Yuvraj Singh's hard work, but Ramandeep Singh might not be far behind.

Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders batter Ramandeep Singh has revealed that he is lucky that Yuvraj Singh has seen him batting and lauded the former India cricketer for missing his practice to stand and watch Ramandeep bat during a nets session in Mohali.
From star India batter Shubman Gill to Abhishek Sharma, Yuvraj has played a crucial role in their development.

Shubman and Abhishek are the two most successful stories stemming from Yuvraj’s hard work, but there are others as well who are climbing up the ladder.
“I keep on having conversations with Yuvi paaji. He’s from Punjab and I am lucky that he has seen me batting. When the COVID restrictions were initially lifted, we used to practice at the PCA Stadium," Ramandeep said while speaking on Raj Shamani’s podcast.
“Yuvi paaji used to come there too. One of the days, he missed his practice session for me and arranged the center wicket. He stood in the sun the entire afternoon at the umpire’s position and recorded my batting videos," Ramandeep added.
The Punjab batter, playing for the Knight Riders, remained unbeaten on six as Kolkata lost to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 opener on Saturday, March 22.
“I want to smash six sixes in an over. Not because I have to break Yuvraj’s record or anything like that. What he’s done is remarkable. I don’t know what happens on the sixth ball," Ramandeep said.
“I am missing something. He [Yuvraj] knows that it’s written. It will happen if and when it has to. More importantly, it’s about how I feel. You may score runs, but you don’t get that feeling," Ramandeep added.
Meanwhile, outmuscled in their previous games, Kolkata and the Rajasthan Royals will eye a quick course correction in every aspect when they face each other in an IPL game in Guwahati on Wednesday.
In 46 T20s, Ramandeep has scored 646 runs at a strike rate of 170. In IPL 2024, he scored 125 runs in nine matches at a stunning strike rate of 201.61. He was retained for Rs 4 crore as an uncapped player ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
