Star Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav dropped an easy catch of Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel on Sunday when he was batting on 57 runs from 72 balls during the ongoing India-Pakistan Champions Trophy 2025 Group A match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The left-handed batter tried to play an aerial shot on the fifth ball of the 34th over of Pakistan’s innings bowled by Axar Patel but failed to connect with the ball properly. The ball went straight up, and Kuldeep covered the distance but failed to grab the ball completely, and it spilled out of his hands.

Axar was visibly disappointed after the dropped chance, as he had the chance to dismiss both Mohammad Rizwan (46) and Saud in one over and bring India back in the match.

Saud, who came out to bat at No. 3 for Pakistan in the match, however, failed to make the most of the lifeline, and after scoring a boundary on the third ball of the 35th over bowled by Hardik Pandya, he handed a simple catch to Axar.

The wicket of Saud on the fifth ball of the 35th over was Hardik’s second wicket of the match. He had earlier dismissed Babar Azam. Babar was caught behind by KL Rahul on the second ball of the ninth over of the match. The former Pakistani captain scored 23 runs from 26 balls.

The two wickets so far in the match have helped Hardik complete 200 wickets in international cricket for India.

Since making his international debut for India against Australia during a T20I match played at Adelaide Oval on January 26, 2016. Hardik has dismissed 17 batters in 11 Tests, 89 batters in 91 ODIs, and 94 batters in 114 T20Is.

Saud was the second Pakistani batter on Sunday whose catch was dropped by the Indian fielders. Harshit Rana had earlier given a lifeline to Rizwan by dropping an easy catch of him on the last ball of the 33rd over, which was bowled by Hardik. But like Saud, Rizwan also failed to make the most of the reprieve and was dismissed by Axar on the second ball of the next over.
