Bad News For Gujarat Titans! Glenn Phillips Gets Helped Out Of Field After Picking Injury Vs SRH In IPL 2025
New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips suffered a groin injury while fielding as a substitute for Gujarat Titans against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025.

New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips’ frustrating IPL 2025 campaign got much worse on Sunday when he picked up an injury while fielding as a substitute for Gujarat Titans (GT) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
It happened in the last over of the powerplay in the first innings. Phillips, not in the starting 11, was covering the point region in the field and raced after a softly pushed shot from Ishan Kishan. While throwing the ball back, he seemed to have stretched his groin and immediately collapsed down on the pitch.

He looked in a lot of pain and the GT physio ran in instantly. After a big break, Phillips was helped to walk out of the ground by a teammate.

It was quite an unlucky moment for Phillips. Despite being one of the best fielders and all-rounders in the world (who can hit big, bowl a bit, and even keep wickets), he hasn’t been able to get a start for GT. It was not too different when he played for SRH last season.
GT have been preferring West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford over him. For this match, they even started with just two overseas players which means when Rutherford comes to bat in the second innings, they’d have involved a maximum of three non-Indians in the match — a completely different tactic from other sides.
Still, Phillips was optimistic and all praise for the Titans in the initial part of the season.
“Arriving here, you know, the management were super incredible to work with, the players themselves invited me in straight away and I’ve really enjoyed the way trainings have functioned. Ashish Bhai (Nehra) is unbelievable, the energy he brings is pretty phenomenal and the whole crew has been fantastic so far. So, yeah, it’s, I mean, as far to say as it’s probably my favourite franchise so far," he was quoted as saying by PTI.
