'He Has Done It For...': Rohit Sharma Praises Virat Kohli's 84-Run Knock Against Australia In CT 2025 Semifinal
Virat Kohli top-scored for India by making 84 runs from 98 balls in the first semifinal of the Champions Trophy 2025, which was played against Australia at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma was full of praise for his long-time India teammate Virat Kohli on Tuesday, March 4, after he scored 84 runs from 98 balls to seal India’s four-wicket win over Australia in the first semifinal of the Champions Trophy 2025 played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
After coming out to bat at his usual No. 3 position in the 265-run chase, Kohli hammered 5 fours and ran 56 singles to keep Aussies at bay. He added 91 runs for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer (45), 44 runs for the 4th wicket with Axar Patel (27), and 47 runs for the fifth wicket with KL Rahul (42*).

For his superb show with the bat, Kohli won the Player of the Match award.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, when Rohit was asked about Kohli’s innings, he said, “He (Virat) has done it (won matches) for us for so many years. We were very calm. We wanted that big stand, which Shreyas and Virat had. Then the shots by Hardik in the end were very important."
Rohit said he has always stressed having six bowling options at his disposal without compromising the batting depth, which was on full view in the team’s comfortable win over Australia.
“That is something I really wanted, to have six bowling options and then batting till No. 8 as well. This is something we discussed while making the squad. Credit goes to everyone who was involved in making the team," Rohit said.
Rohit, who became the first captain to reach the final of all four ICC events on Tuesday, said his teammates were clinical with the bat on Tuesday.
“Halfway through the game, we felt it was a reasonable score, and we have to bat really, really well. I thought we were very clinical with the bat. We were very calm and composed. The wicket looked better, and that has been the nature of the surfaces.
“The one that played today was slightly better. We just want to play good cricket and not read too much into what the pitch is doing."
