'If Given A Chance...': Cheteshwar Pujara On India Comeback For Upcoming England Test Tour
Cheteshwar Pujara remains confident in his abilities should he make a return to Test cricket for the upcoming Test tour of England.

Cheteshwar Pujara feels that he is more than ready should India recall the out-of-favour batter for the upcoming tour of England, set to take place in June, later this year.
The 37-year-old, who has been a regular in India’s Test setup, has not been selected in the recent games. His last Test match was the 2021-2023 World Test Championship final, which was held at the Oval in June 2023.

Despite not being in favour, Pujara has been featuring regularly in the first-class format for Saurashtra. In the recently-concluded Ranji Trophy season, he managed to score 402 runs in the seven games played for Saurashtra, who went on to the quarter-final stages.
Speaking at the RevSportz Conclave, Pujara mentioned that he is more than ready for Test cricket and feels that the Indian squad has the ability to beat England in an away series.
“I’m playing domestic cricket. If given a chance, I’m ready to grab it with both hands. The hunger is even more. When you are older, you need to work even harder. We have the bowling. We need to put runs on the board. And we have the players to do that. We have to respect the bowling and the conditions. I won’t say that we don’t have a chance," said Pujara.
Speaking on India’s possible advantage in the Champions Trophy 2025 of playing all their games in Dubai, Pujara does not believe that the Men in Blue had an unfair advantage, citing that the schedules were released prior to the start of the competition and how India’s security concerns forced them to play in the UAE.
“I don’t think so. The schedule was put out before the start of the tournament. The tournament is being played in a hybrid model because India couldn’t go to Pakistan due to security reasons," he added.
The Rohit Sharma-led side will now face New Zealand in the final, where the Men in Blue hope to secure more silverware after winning the T20 World Cup in 2024. They remain unbeaten in the competition for the ongoing edition, and India will be keen on taking the final win to take the title.
