Buttler is playing for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. The former England white-ball captain was signed for Rs 15.75 crore by the Ahmedabad-based franchise in the mega auction last year.

Former England white-ball captain Jos Buttler is playing for Gujarat Titans in the ongoing 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. He joined the Ahmedabad-based franchise for Rs 15.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 34-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has been in red-hot form these days, and in three IPL 2025 matches played so far, he has scored two half-centuries.
Buttler, who remained unbeaten on 73 runs from 39 balls in GT’s third league stage match played against RCB at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 2, has reserved big praise for his Gujarat Titans captain, Shubman Gill, and said that the right-handed batter from Punjab, who sits at No. 1 position in the ICC ODI batter’s ranking, is going to be the poster boy of Indian cricket.

“Look, Shubman is a star, isn’t he? He is going to be the poster boy of Indian cricket. I think he is a fantastic player. I have really enjoyed it," Buttler was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
“I think one of the great things with the IPL is that I have played against these guys. But now I get to watch him up close and be on my team. I really like watching him practise and learning things about how he goes about it. He has led the team brilliantly. He has got a nice relationship with the whole team. And he and the coach get on well. And yeah, he has got that passion on the field which I love and also a clear, calm head. So he is doing a fantastic job as leader," he added.
Gill is Gujarat Titans leading run scorer in Indian Premier League history. He was signed by the Ahmedabad-based franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions, and since then he has been with them. Gill was appointed as GT’s captain ahead of Rashid Khan after Hardik Pandya left the franchise in November 2023 to join the Mumbai Indians.
Apart from leading Gujarat Titans in the IPL, Gill has also captained the Indian men’s cricket team in five T20Is so far. He made his leadership debut against Zimbabwe in July 2024. He was appointed as India’s white-ball vice-captain in July 2024 for away series against Sri Lanka and retained the position for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as well.
