Star West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran, who is playing for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025, joined legendary Chris Gayle in an elite list of batters on Monday (March 24). During the IPL 2025 match between LSG and Delhi Capitals, which is currently underway at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Pooran became the fourth batter in the world to hit 600 or more sixes in T20s.

Pooran needed one six against DC to join the elite list, and he achieved the objective by hammering Vipraj Nigam for a maximum on the third ball of the seventh over of LSG’s innings.
Pooran has 600 sixes to his name in 385 T20 matches. He has hammered 65 sixes so far in 30 IPL matches for Lucknow Super Giants.
Gayle holds the record for hitting the most sixes in T20s. During his 17-year-long T20 career, Gayle played 463 matches and smashed 1056 sixes. He is followed by Kieron Pollard (908 sixes in 695 matches) and Andre Russell (733 sixes in 539 matches).

India’s 2024 T20 World Cup-winning team captain Rohit Sharma has hit 525 sixes in 449 T20 matches played so far.
Pooran, who was retained for Rs 21 crore by the Lucknow-based franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions, came out to bat at No. 3 for LSG on Monday in Vizag, and at the close of 11 overs, he was batting on 41 runs from 20 balls.
Pooran, who has been part of the LSG set-up in the IPL since the 2023 season, has so far hit four fours and three sixes.
He has added 79 runs from just 38 balls with Mitchell Marsh so far for the second wicket. The Australian T20I captain is batting on 65 runs from 33 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes.
Like LSG’s new captain Rishabh Pant, Marsh was also part of the Delhi Capitals team in IPL 2024. He was not retained by the Delhi-based franchise despite proving his worth with batting in the middle order.
Marsh was signed for Rs 3.40 crore by LSG in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year. He is likely to play only as a batter in the first few matches of IPL 2025.
