DC Vs LSG, IPL 2025 Highlights: Ashutosh Sharma Takes Delhi Over the Line Against Lucknow

Delhi Capitals opened their IPL 2025 campaign with a 1-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants at the ACA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Monday.

LSG posted a total of 209 for the loss of 8 wickets thanks to fifties from Nicholas Pooran and Mitch Marsh, while Mitchell Starc picked up a three-fer for Delhi. DC endured a tough start to the chase but came back to win as they chased down the target with three balls to spare riding on Ashustosh Sharma, who remained unbeaten 66-run knock.

The Indian spinner brings up a boundary with a deft cut on the first ball of the penultimate over from Prince.

But the southpaw finds himself run out as he forces a single to get Ashu on strike!

And the new boy continues to deliver as he pics up back-to-back boundaries, one of the off and the other with a knick in behind the wicket. But they all count the same and Delhi now have a prayer.

The pair also brought up their 50-run stand with the first of Vippy’s boundaries.

Rishabh Pant mixing things up as he tosses the ball to Shabaz Ahmed, but Vipraj goes after him.

The youngster makes room before dispatching the first ball for FOUR before trading strike with Ashutosh.

Vipraj, now back on strike, takes the aerial route and sends the ball soring into the sky before landing beyond in the stands.

Vipraj is the new batter in and does well to hold mentor Kevin Pietersen’s high praise of him in good stead with three brilliant boundaries off Ravi Bishnoi.

Siddharth comes in to bowl his final over and Stubbs decides to take him on!

Reading the game scenario perfectly well, the South African whacks the Indian spinner over the top straight down the ground in the first ball of the over.

Stubbs picks the gap with precision as he reverse sweeps returning spinner Siddharth for FOUR around the square leg area without any fuss.

Despite the boundary, it turn out to be a tight over as the southpaw spinner gives away just seven in that over.

Prince Yadav is tossed the all for the first time in the IPL and the youngster does well to limit DC batters to 5 runs off his first six deliveries.

At the midway point of the chase, Delhi stand at 88 runs for the loss of half their side.

Everything but the run bar split right down the middle here!

Bishnoi continues his spell but this time is welcomed back by Stubbs as the Protea all-rounder whacks the spinner over long on for a huge SIX.

He offers up strike to Ashutosh, who takes the ground route to the ropes for FOUR!

Delhi need more of that and for this partnership to stick to stay relevant in the chase!

Ashutosh Sharma, who made everyone take notice with his blitzkrieg for Punjab last year, gets off the mark with a single before being out back to face the ball by Stubbs on return.

The Indian spinner strikes on his first over as he scalps the big fish.

Faf has a heavy swing at a Bishnoi turner, but manages to get it only high and not far enough as David Miller takes it without fuss to reduce Delhi to half their side.

The sixth over comes to an end and so does the powerplay.

Delhi in a very difficult position but the capital city have Faf anf Stubbs at the crease. And this duo needs to click.

The new boys dismisses the Delhi skipper.

Axar can’t believe what he has done as he lifts the ball straight into the thankful hands of opposite number Pooran. Easiest catch he’d take in a long while!

Shardul Thakur comes back for his third of the day and is taken to the boundary by Patel as he strikes it to FOUR with poise.

What a take by the most expensive IPL buy to destabilise DC further!

New Delhi boy Sameer Rizvi comes out to replace his fallen teammate and starts off in style with a brilliant shot away to the ropes for FOUR to get off the mark.

Delhi will need more of that here if they are to stay in contention in their season opener at home.

Shardul doubles his tally with the dismissal of DC retainee Porel as skipper Pooran holds onto the catch to get rid of the youngster.

But ball-tracking shows that it was pitching outside leg. Badoni looks to go big, coming down the ground but does not time it well to find the man at the mid-wicket boundary ropes.

Mukesh Kumar comes back into the attack. Mitchell Marsh sends the first ball flying over the covers for the maximum. Nicholas Pooran comes on strike but Marsh looks to clear the long-on boundary ropes but finds the fielder by the ropes.
