The Chennai Super Kings legend unravelled a vintage run-chase classic in an IPL 2018 fixture against arch-rivals Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Walking in at No.6 with his team reeling at 74 for 4 in the 9th over, Dhoni aced yet another difficult run-chase in a partnership with CSK’s former middle-order batter Ambati Rayudu, who came up with a solid knock of 82 off 53 balls at his end before allrounder Dwayne Bravo joined hands with his skipper and provided the late-over blitz.
While Dhoni’s legendary innings featured a series of maximums in the end overs, it’s the one with which he closed out the thrilling contest against RCB allrounder Corey Anderson that is etched in cricket lovers’ memories.
Needing 3 runs off the last three balls, Dhoni swivelled across to the off-side, got underneath an attempted yorker from Anderson and hammered the ball to the deep mid-wicket region for a giant six, much to the delight of his fans all over the globe.
With his great knock, Dhoni continued his fantastic form in CSK’s comeback season following a two-year ban. The Super Kings skipper led his troops from the front throughout IPL 2018, scoring 455 runs at a scintillating strike-rate of 150.66 and averaging a whopping 75.83 in his team’s title-winning campaign.
Dhoni’s men finished second on the league table with nine wins in 14 games before surpassing 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 and the final in a high-voltage neutral clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
