Prasidh Krishna Confirms Jasprit Bumrah Has 'Back Spasms', Medical Team Monitoring Pacer
Jasprit Bumrah went for scans in Sydney and came back after three hours. His availability for Sunday is in doubt.

Indian quick Prasidh Krishna has confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah is suffering from ‘back spasms’ in Australia and is being monitored by the Indian medical staff ahead of a crucial third day in the Sydney Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He added the team is still awaiting the results of his scans.
Bumrah just bowled eight overs on Saturday before heading back into the dressing room. He was then seen leaving the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) with some members of the medical staff and came back after three hours. Although from live pictures he looked fine, running up and down the steps comfortably, India would not want to risk aggravating even a minor injury.

“He had a back-spasm. He had gone for scans. The medical team is monitoring him and we’ll know by whatever time the medical team gets back to us," Prasidh said in the press conference after the day’s play.
Bumrah was leading the team in Rohit Sharma’s absence in the Test. But when he left, Virat Kohli took over as the team bowled out Australia for 181 in the second innings. Prasidh stepped up brilliantly in the senior pacer’s absence, taking 3/42. He said Bumrah’s absence didn’t have a big impact on the bowling attack because of the clarity in their plans.
“No matter who’s leading, as a team we prepare really well so the plan was really clear even when Bumrah was out and Virat was on. Not much change that way."
Prasidh also spoke about how after being inconsistent at the start of his spell, he sat with the team analyst to find the right lengths to bowl. He then also spoke about the overall changes he has made, starting from his mindset.
“Every time I played for my state, I bowled with the new ball. Coming here, I have to bowl one-change, I have looked at what everyone in the world does when they bowl one-change [which is] trying and give control to the team, have control and be consistent in the lines and lengths that you are bowling. That is the mental shift I made and I had to put in work for it," Prasidh said.
